Thursday: Up around 8. MB asked what the weather was supposed to be. I checked the web for an answer: rain. Not that I mind at all. After the endless sunny days we've had lately, a little rain seems cozy and peaceful. Shower, some guitar, breakfast. Down basement, I said hello to Christine, then retreated into the music room. I heard her leave not long after. Talked to the print shop about flyers for the NST Intro course. Some small mods need to be made. Sent T an email.
Off to work, heading through Union Sq, and across town. At work, asked Jn to do a test in a competing program. Neither of us could figure out how to perform the operation, which we thought should be quite simple. Resigned myself to recreating my SCC set-up from scratch. And a long rebuild process, during which, I cleaned my desk. Looked into another bug. Lunch at my desk. Rapid fire phone conversation with Rbt about the bandwidth feature. What that all I did today? Hard to believe. Left at 7:40.
Practice with Shawn. We ran through our older material. Neither of us was playing well tonight. My comment was, it had the quality of help being withdrawn. This is how we grow. For example, when you are very young, you parents might hold your hands to aid your balance while you are learning to walk, and then, they let you walk on your own. The initial response to this is to fall down... but one has learned that walking is possible, and so, one perseveres.
Did some work on a new piece of mine (a pretty bit, growing out of an arpeggio exercise). This will be quite a challenge for me... and for Shawn, apparently.
Back home, chatted with MB, who had been to another neighborhood meeting. She shook the mayor's hand, and learned quite a bit about the city of Somerville. We put away dishes. And that's about it.
