Saturday: Up around 8:30. MB took a shower. Brief sitting. Shower. We ate breakfast together (cereal), then walked to Union Square. Bought vegetables at the Farmer's Market (and a small pie), then walked back up and over the hill on Walnut Street, looking at houses and so on.
Sat cooling off for a bit, emailing, and drinking iced tea, then down basement for morning practices. Back upstairs, some snacks, and then headed over to KKC. Stopped for gas, and bought an energy drink. At KKC said hello to Wnd and Psl. We chatted for a bit, and ate some of the spelt bread I had brought as a gift for Wnd. Talked about music software, and library management. On the way home, stopped at Home Depot, and bought a dowel rod. Looked at the stuff I need for refinishing the fence, but decided not to buy yet.
Back home, the new CMJ cd was playing in the kitchen, but MB was nowhere to be found. She came down a little later. We ate some of the spanakopita she made and agreed that we would go shopping around 7. She was quite proud of the fact that she broke apart an old wooden lattice with an ax. She also neatened up the yard and the roses in front of the house.
Cleaned out and straightened my little music hutch in the dining room. This took quite a bit longer than I had thought it would. Added to the shopping list. Played guitar. MB and I had some hot caffeinated beverages and ate pie.
We drove over to Target and did some undergarment shopping. Took a look at the electronics section and determined that there's still no way I can justify buying a flat screen TV. Aesthetically, they're quite appealing compared to the CRT box we have now. But these are bourgeoisie thoughts. Live 8 concerts played around the world today, reminding us that there are many people living in brutal poverty. Next, to the grocery store for bit a shopping trip. Was feeling tired, but keep putting out positive thoughts. Keeping everybody happy sometimes takes effort. People watching: MB pointed out a woman with an amazingly packaged bubble butt. A gay couple and their child. They seemed a little uncomfortable that I was enjoying looking at their kid, probably thinking I was being judgmental, or something. There's often not much you can say to smooth over undisclosed misunderstandings. Stopped at the video store and rented a couple of DVDs. Also picked up some film classics on VHS, which they were selling at 4 for $10.
Back home around 10:30, decided it was a little too late to cook out. Put away groceries, and reheated my noodle dish from a couple nights back. Ate watching "The Life Aquatic." Very fun and quirky film from the director of "Rushmore" and "The Royal Tenenbaums." Cleaning up. End of the day stuff.
