a walk through the square

Thursday: Up around 7:45, as MB was get ready to head out. Web. Shower. Down basement for morning practices. Long today, throwing in a longer than usual sitting, and some yoga. Talked to Shawn, and determined that we were not going to be rehearsing this evening. Fixed the gutter on the garage, reinforcing its mounting with some coat-hanger. Packed breakfast and lunch for myself (bagel, yogurt, cheese and avocado roll-up). Guitar, working on some of Jun's arpeggio exercises, and Askesis, among others.

In to work. Quite a nice day out. One of a string. Began the task of hooking my new subsystem into the program at large. This is difficult, and not particularly creative. Hard for me to concentrate on. Took a break to walk out and pick up the Phoenix. Took another break for lunch. Took a final break in the evening to walk around H Sq... the ever-changing, but always familiar cavalcade of people, street performers, musicians, beggars, artists, police and nut-jobs. (Believe me, I call them nut-jobs with great affection.) An old stand-by was in the square today, a disheveled man, obviously living out of the large backpack he always has strapped on, who carries a large day-glo sign explaining the benefits of taking Jesus Christ as your personal savior. Down by the river, all the joggers, jogging. Everyone is either talking on a cellphone or listening to an iPod. I could sing aloud, and no one would hear. Some people seem lonely. I noticed the texture of the cement under my hands as I stood on the footbridge over the Charles. Some consulting with B and Dv about internationalization. Worked late, heading home around 10.

Back at the ranch, no MB (still at a BD gig). I played guitar for about an hour. More arpeggios, Askesis, Moving Force, and other stuff. MB should be home soon. I have to go to the dentist early tomorrow, so, I'd like to get some sleep.
