time warp

Sunday: Had a sleep in, until around 10:30, waking up with my arms slung around Leo the cat. MB and I had a nice breakfast together (eggs, soy sausage), then she went out to buy some gardening supplies. I headed down basement. Web surfing. Morning practices. I must have entered some sort of time warp, because when I resurfaced, it was 4 PM.

I took a shower, and helped MB burn a CD for her BD performance this evening. Out back, and cut the grass, listening to a 4th of July party going on in the yard behind ours. Up on a ladder, and calking, completing most of the job. Ran out of calk right near the end. Also patched a hole in the roof over the side bay window, and put some masonry calk around the hole where flue for the new furnace protrudes.

Cleaning my hands after all this caulking was quite a job in and of itself. Then, MB and I ate a snack: spanakopita and olive bread. Soon, it was time to leave for guitar circle. I headed out, and MB stayed, getting ready for her gig. Stopped at the video store and returned one of the VHS tapes we'd bought. Strangely, I got back more in credit than I paid for it, despite my clearly stating what I thought I should get back for it.

Guitar Circle tonight: Just Victor, myself and David K. In the winter we make excuses for light attendance saying "It's the winter"... In the summer we make excuses for light attendance saying "It's the summer." We worked on some of the 28 Bars exercise. I asked some questions about the right hand. Victor led us in a discussion of the necessity of non-existence, and its knowledge of itself. For me, this is a little like, having spent a long while studying Ostriches in English, to suddenly be trying to have a conversation about Penguins in Portuguese.

Back home, emptied the dishwasher, made a small salad and a veggie burger, and watched an episode of "The Wire." MB came home around 12:45. Soon bed.
