huge ant

Friday: Up around 8:30. Spent some time answering an email. Difficult to know what words of encouragement might actually do some good, and which would just be more annoying. A sitting of sorts. Down basement briefly, then on my way.

Another perfect day out. Stopped at the library and picked up a couple of manuscripts (Bartok) I had on reserve. Now if I could just read music fluently, I'd be all set. Drove to work across town, and it seemed a lot quicker than the highway route... though certainly more lumbering.

Had a pizza breakfast before going in the building. Not quite as productive day in the office as I'd hoped. I looked into, and fixed a bug, and gave Dnl a little bit of a scolding, but in a fairly nice way. Sometimes people need a scolding, and I'm not one to deny them the right to it. Fixed a couple of bugs in my new code... but had a bit recompile that sidelined me for a good spell. Wendy called a couple of times with comments about the photo gallery. I kvetched some about the horrible server-side software we're using. MB added some good entries to our new shared calendar. Headed home a bit after 9, again driving across town.

Down basement for practices. Midway through this huge ant crawled right in front of me. I gave it a ride outside. The concern that it was a termite of some sort lingered for the rest of the session. Leaving the basement, I found the same huge ant, trying to find its way back in. I gave it a free ride farther down the street... but felt a little bad. I was probably stranding it to die trying to find its way home.

Drove over to the video store and rented "House of 1000 Corpses" and bought a couple of DVDs and the video of Airplane. Back home, watched the horror film while playing IBE. Strangely appropriate. Then a little other practice. My wrist was feeling nicely loose tonight. MB is dancing at the Kasbah, and should be home around 1.
