Snow-tires

Wednesday: Woke around 9 as MB and friend headed out to a lecture in H Sq. Decided to get up. Shower. Fed cats. Down basement. Morning practices. After, put away laundry, put tires in the car. Car wouldn't start, so jumped.

Drove to the tire shop, dropped off the car and walked to work. The car will have its snow tires put on, and an alignment done. At work, ate lunch for breakfast. Coffee. Continued tweaking my code, and comparing to the shipping version of the program. Things are starting to look pretty encouraging. Checked in my code to catch a snapshot of its current state. Replaced a sub-system and added prioritization to a work queue implementation. Walked to the tire place and picked up the car. Quite cold out today. Pizza. More coffee. Left around 6:35.

Having hit some traffic, arrived just a tad late at KKC. Struggled to keep myself alert, and was mostly successful. Two cups of tea helped. We wrapped up 70 Topics today. One big lesson of the night: don't mix and match models. Allow each to be internally consistent, and work with it on its own terms. I guess this is a bit like General Relativity and Quantum Physics. Still, the human mind wants Unification.

Talked to Wendy about a retreat she has decided to do. Talked to Ed about possibly installing a water fountain. Took a ride out with Wnd and got some coffee and a donut. Back home, MB was heading to bed. A little guitar. Email. One enthusiastic response from a kindred spirt points in an interesting direction. Now, to take out the recycling, and soon bed.

It is my most grave misfortune to have Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" stuck in my head. That will teach me to listen to NPR. I'd consider lobotomy, but I'm sure this song will do the job on its own if I let it run long enough.
