snow-lightening

Friday: Woke around 8 as MB was getting up. Snow had fallen in the night. Deciding to be gallant, I jumped out of bed, threw some clothes on and did some shovelling so MB could just leave and get to work on time. Email, shower, then down basement for morning practices. I love the quiet that snow brings. Did some extra stretching this morning, as my body felt thick from too much sleep. Put on water for coffee, wrapped some presents. Breakfast of an egg sandwich with soy sausage. Put the presents in a box, which I then addressed. Headed out.

The roads were pretty slippery. Still haven't put my snow-tires on. Stopped at the post office and mailed off the presents. Drove slowly to Harvard Square. Almost there, I saw lightening and heard thunder. Quite unusual... thunder and lightening during a snowstorm. At work, spent some time doing design, and then, worked on performance. Interesting stuff going on with thread priorities. Snow kept falling and cleared by late afternoon. MB called and said people had tried to leave work early, but that traffic was so bad that they had just come back to the office. I stayed until about 7:30, and then headed home.

I found I couldn't make it up the hill from Mt Auburn St to Mass Ave, so I took the long way around. Slowly slowly home. Almost got stuck in an intersection. At the house, our neighbor B had given me a jump on the shoveling. I shoveled the driveway, and the walk along side the house. I was shoveling out a spot on the street for MB when she returned. We completed the job, she parked, and then we took a walk out. Ordered some subs, then to the video store. Picked up our subs, then back home, for an evening of nesting in front of the tube. The cats are getting old and smelly.
