As I was driving there was a point where I could either go straight (drop off the DVD) or take a right (go to KKC). I had a green right-turn signal, so I did that. I pondered how this snap decision effected the rest of my plans. Filled water bowls, talking to Jf about computers and ritual. It's an odd thing to say, but he's refreshingly cynical. Headed in to H Sq. Big goings on along the Esplanade in preparation of the 4th. Found parking. Went to my former bank and closed my safe-deposit box. The place was chaotic, with lots of unhappy people waiting in cushy chairs, or rushing about. I was happy to complete my connection with that place.
Muled the goods back across town. Was helped by a cashier who kept calling me "Hun." Put my stuff in the new box. Returned the DVD. Walked down the street and got a slice of pizza and a soda, which I ate sitting on the steps of the shop.
Back to H Sq. and to work. Spent the rest of the day learning about "Fink," installing various open-source Unix ports on my Mac, and rolling my own Universal binaries out of platform specific binaries. Some food at my desk later on. Coffee. Much closer to having something building by the time I left.
I actually enjoy driving on "The Jamaica Way." Nice curves. At Victor's, Alex L and Martin arrived around the same time as me. Victor was sorting out patch cables. Eventually we got plugged in and worked out our sounds. About this time MB showed up. A good rehearsal, running through our material for the Friday gig.
I took a silly way going home, especially since Storrow was closed down heading into Boston. Back home, MB and I got settled in, then ate some eggs and toast. Soon down basement.
