Thursday: After a night of not sleeping much, MB woke around 7:30, and put Gus out of the room... but then returned to bed. After she left for work, I had a bit of a lay-about. Then brief web, shower, cats. DS emailed from across the puddle needing new drivers. Said hello to M, who was in the backyard doing some pruning. Down basement for full morning practices, carried out at a good clip. Did a bit of cleaning. Loaded up the car with my electric rig, and headed to work.
Arrived in the parking garage at the same time as JC. He'd just come back from the mall with a couple of the new Power Macs. Another day of frustration. Tried several tweaks to my new architecture, but it continues to perform absolutely pitifully. The strange thing is, from most of the measurements I can take, it seems like its just something about the way the new code is interacting with the OS that is causing this, rather than any obvious design flaws on my part. But, it's so bad, there has to be a smoking gun... I just haven't found it yet. Headed out at 7:40.
Over to Arlington, and a session with Shawn. Very good work, though our warm feelings of comradery led to a little extra banter tonight... Enjoying each others company is an important part of a creative working relationship, so I wouldn't say our chatting was time wasted. Help is back, but we've grown. My comment was, when help is withdrawn, an effort is then required on your part. Then, when help returns, you have grown. We played Chrysanthemum through without train-wreck tonight. With this piece, a big hazard is getting excited about not completely screwing up. Dropped Shawn off back at his place.
Back home, email. Sold my lovely Larrivee guitar on ebay (the process of which had taken my attention throughout the day). After all the fees are paid I about broke even. MB called from the road, coming home from the Athenian Corner. I sat down to eat a vegetarian frozen dinner, just as she arrived. Crazy jello for tomorrows performance was urged from its mold. More email. Soon bed.
