RPT moves on/An old house in Arlington

Friday: Slept in after a late night. Shower, web, brief sitting, fed the cats. Talked to MB who was at the airport in Arizona about to begin her return. Ate a quick bite standing in the kitchen. Headed out. The car was already packed with my electric rig, so just had to grab the guitar.

Brief day at work. It looks like an old colleague of mine at the company, and in fact, the person that originally hired me, is moving on. This is a sad thing, but probably a good idea for him. I don't think he's been very engaged lately. Rewrote my code from yesterday, changing the granularity of an operation for better optimization (lower set-up overhead). Got a couple quick slices of pizza. Headed out around 6:45. Stopped for a coffee and a cookie before getting in my car.

At the rehearsal space in Arlington, Shawn and St were not their yet, so I pulled out the guitar and and warmed up a little standing on the sidewalk, watching some builders. My mates arrived soon. Good to see St. Been several years since the last time. Shawn and I gave him a sort of performance. Pretty shaky, several train-wrecks. He had some questions and comments. A very good experience for Shawn and me to have... testing our metal, so to speak. I played for them, a new piece I've been working on. The middle part is quite a challenge.

I gave my friends a ride over to Shawn's house. First time I'd been in. Quite a lovely old house... high ceilings, big rooms, lots of books and old rugs. The owner is an older woman, and is experiencing some health problems now. Shawn has the place more or less to himself for the summer. Met a cat, which is friendly at first, but has a mean streak. Shawn gave me a tour. Great creepy basement. I opened a door down there to an unused washroom that looked like it had not been opened in about 50 years or more... full of cobwebs and grime. In the backyard, a large and bounteous garden. Shawn treated us to some delicious cherry tomatoes and blackberries, which we ate under towering sunflowers, illuminated by flashlight. He made a care-package of produce for me, and I headed out.

Stopped at the grocery for some flowers. Back home, some relaxing. MB called to say she was in Providence, and headed home. Down basement for practices. Back up, and made a quick soup out of the veggies that Shawn gave me. And then, MB was at the door! She took a shower, and headed for bed. I played a little guitar. Email.
