Connections

A standard morning of late. Called up Apple and got them to agree to send me a new power supply to replace the one that came with my new laptop. (It makes a unhappy electrical frying sound when it is having the charge both the battery and run the computer at the same time). Raining. I think I had a bowl of cereal, and played a little guitar.

In at work, researching a mysterious crash in some Apple code under Intel. Eventually tracked it down to being the combination of the way everything inherits operator new, and unenforced alignment requirements. Well, darn. Fixed a couple of other bugs. Lunch thanks to MB. Left around 7:30. Stopped for some pizza. Picked up some cheese and sparkling cider. Went to Innman Square (hard to find parking) and caught about 20 minutes of my friends Billy and Ruby aka the band Bird Mancini. They are darling people, and make very enjoyable music. Also there was my friend Tim Cassey, of Dr. X fame. Helped a little loading their van. Not a big turnout, and gear to haul. Been there. So good to see them though, and make good on the CD trade they proposed back in November.

Next, a short drive back to the office lot, then down the street to a small party with MB, Christine and Cathy, among others. MB left before too long. Enjoyable conversation, involving many things such as "If you're a man and you enjoy sucking cock, does that make you gay?" Christine showed us some photos of the fighting cows of Switzerland. Crln of Unicorn Books showed up, which was fortuitous, because I'd been wanting to connect with her. Gave Cathy and Christine rides. Christine played me a demo of a new song. In that moment, sitting in my car, listening through the white earbuds of the iPod, the material world seemed less real than the music. A kiss on the cheek. Goodbye dear old friend, and safe travels.

Stopped on the way home for a coffee and a jelly stick. Down basement for practices.
