The Church of Flying Dreams

Wednesday: Up around 9, with two cat butts inches from my face. MB said something funny about "kitty exhaust" as if they were little busses. Took care of the little blighters, then shower, and down basement. Had some snacks, then drove to work, (still in the loaner, since the shop wants to keep my car one more day).

A fairly productive day, chasing down several bugs. Got coffee. Dnl made a pretty cool memory trasher finder tool. Found one funny bug that was caused by one of our programmers using octal constants in 1993. Now, 13 years later, another programmer didn't notice that it was octal, and just typed a decimal number in. This caused bit-aliasing (100 decimal == 144 octal) setting unintended flags. (In C, octal constants (base 8) are simply preceded by a leading zero: 04 is an octal number, 4 is a decimal (base 10) number and 0x4 is a hexidecimal (base 16) number). Got some pizza at one point. Stayed late, finally heading home around 11.

MB was about where I left her, still working away. Actually she'd been out to an OCBC meeting since the morning. We chatted and I rubbed shoulders. Took out the garbage. Ate some foods. Guitar (much needed). A name swam to mind for the piece I've been working on: Lodestone... and the project that Shawn and I have been working on for months finally has a name: "The Church of Flying Dreams."

Down basement. Email, and completing the day.
